My top 10 best wedding venues in Portugal for 2025
As a photographer focused on shooting smaller weddings I want to share with you some of the wedding venues that, in my opinion, are not only one of the best venues to get married but also venues that fit my photographing style. Most of the venues that I will suggest below I have already shot at but others I have never been to, but after some research, I think these venues would be a great match for couples that are looking for venues that are smaller and suggest intimacy.
Since I’m based in Lisbon, Portugal I will start with the venues that are optimal for someone who wants to stay in the capital and not rent a car drive somewhere remote. As a former distillery warehouse, this venue offers a unique modern/urban look to it.
2. Santa Clara 1728, Lisbon
The venue, Santa Clara 1728, is an architectural marvel, renewed by Aires Mateus, and dates back to 1728. Santa Clara 1728 simple aesthetic while in a city environment makes it an ideal wedding venue for a micro-wedding and for spending some intimate and quality time in the city of Lisbon.
3. Dá Licença, Alentejo
Herdade das Freiras emerged in 1830, as one of the most important olive oil producers. The location of Dá Licença is unique, it covers one hundred and twenty hectares of magnificent Alentejo hills and it has a wonderful 360° view of the Serra d’Ossa forest and the beautiful castles of Evoramonte and Estremoz. In this stunning wedding venue, nature and art are the perfect match. All the areas of this small hotel are decorated with beatiful art pieces that at the same time are in perfect harmony with traditional details of the Alentejo culture and history. The coolest part is that the hotel has an art gallery in an old wine press (how cool can this venue be?!). They have 5 suites and 4 rooms, 2 of the suites with a private pool and the architecture of the hotel is very modern and minimal, it’s ideal for a small wedding!
4. Areias do Seixo, Santa Cruz
There are many palces to get married next to the ocean but Areias do Seixo is my opinion one of the most incredible wedding venue with ocean view in Portugal that takes place in Torres Vedras, north of Lisbon. With a modern and rustic style and with a very sustainable feeling, this beauty is located in the middle of the dunes and pine trees and it’s a very authentic and peaceful place.
At Areias do Seixo you can experience modern luxury combined with an astonishing diverse nature, with surrounding pine trees, long dunes and a perfect view of the sea. I’ve shoot a few weddings there but I would love to come back, so if come across this page its because you are searching for a photographer to shoot your wedding, your elopement, your family or even just a day in your everyday life, please explore my portfolio page. If you like what you see and if you think that our photographic approach is the best way to capture your life, leave me message!
5. Casa da Volta, Alentejo
The Casa da Volta property sits atop the hills of Santa Margarida da Serra and boasts stunning views of the golden Alentejo landscape. The warm and organic design of their wedding perfectly complemented the venue, with shades of gold and earth tones being the predominant color scheme.
Casa da Votla is hands down the venue that I love the most in Portugal. Check my previous blog to see exactly what I mean.
7. Casa Sacoto, Torres Vedras
An intimate and exclusive event venue surrounded by vineyards in the countryside of Portugal. Casa Sacoto provides a mix of Mediterranean charm and contemporary architecture, embracing warmth and organic elements. A perfect venue for intimate weddings
6. Casa do Tempo, Alentejo
This was a very warm day in every sense, a perfect silent living wedding. Claudia and Dario married in what seems to be in the middle of nowhere but it’s actually at the heart of one of our favourite regions of Portugal, Alentejo, more specifically at Casa no Tempo by Silent Living.
8. Farmhouse of the Palms, Algarve
This stunning old farmhouse with 200 years, located in Algarve too, was recovered, and now it’s a very charming bed & breakfast. This wedding venue only accepts very small weddings with all its authentic historical details, the garden and the terraces with breathtaking views makes everyone fall in love with the place!
9. Morgado do Quintão, Algarve
Morgado do Quintão is one of my favorite places to shoot in Algarve. It is a large, restored early 1800's family-owned vineyard estate, offering wine tastings and a boutique farmstay experience. Located between Silves and Lagoa. Having dinner in the middle of a vineyard give the perfect vibe for those iconic warm nights in Algarve. A very good extra from this wedding venue is that the wine that they serve there is incredible (maybe one of my favorites in whole Portugal).
One of my favorite weddings I did in 2023 was the wedding of Nadia & Octavio organized by ByMatilda.
10. Quinta do Muro, Algarve
The house was built from 1983 to 1988 by French architect Pierre-Louis Faloci. He received the Equerre d’Argent in 1996, the highest French prize for architecture. The villa, as its name suggests, has many walls and an extremely modern feel—especially considering it was built over 30 years ago. While the house itself is made of modern white stone walls, the property still has an old-world European feel to it with the olive and fig trees, lavender fields, and the ocean. The way to this wedding venue is absolutely stunning with a road surrounded by olive trees and at the end you are greeted with Vinho Verde, a wine that’s made in Portugal. This venue really sends the southern European vibes.
In my eyes, these are the wedding venues that are ideal for hosting an intimate wedding and that also would fit perfectly with my photography. So if you ended up on this page and are still looking for a photographer, go ahead and get in touch with me through the contact page.
