Intimate Wedding at Casa da Volta - Patricia & Christian

A Micro Wedding at Casa da Volta
Since I became a wedding photographer, my mom would often ask me:
“If you were to get married tomorrow, where and how would you do it?”
For a long time, I didn’t have a clear answer. But after photographing Patricia & Christian’s intimate wedding at Casa da Volta in 2022, I finally knew.
So I told her:
“If I were to get married tomorrow, it would be something like that day at Casa da Volta.”
I still remember the drive through the Alentejo landscape that morning—warm air, windows down, soaking in the quiet, earthy beauty of southern Portugal. It reminded me of childhood summers with my grandmother, spent under the same wide skies. There’s a stillness in Alentejo that stays with you.
I had Googled Casa da Volta before the wedding, but nothing prepared me for what it felt like in person. The modern, minimalist architecture is striking, but it doesn’t overpower the land—it blends in, quietly. Inside the stone walls, it’s all clean lines, natural light, and soft shadows. As someone who loves simplicity and stillness in photography, I felt instantly at home.
Why Casa da Volta Is One of My Favorite Alentejo Wedding Venues
Patricia and Christian’s celebration was the kind of intimate wedding in Portugal that felt effortless in all the right ways. A ceremony under the open sky. No distractions, just laughter and light. The slow rhythm of the day made space for connection, for real moments.
If you’re looking for an Alentejo wedding venue that balances minimal design with a deep sense of place, Casa da Volta is one of the most thoughtful spaces I’ve ever photographed.
It’s quiet. It’s calm. It holds people beautifully.
How Patricia & Christian Made Their Casa da Volta Wedding So Special
They focused on three simple things—and it made all the difference:
1. A Wedding Venue That Matched Their Style
Casa da Volta has modern architecture that somehow blends perfectly with the wild beauty of the Alentejo landscape. Once you enter the walls, you see the love for minimalist design everywhere, from the clean lines to the way the light moves through the space. As a photographer, it’s exactly the kind of place I love to shoot.
2. A Small Guest List
Their wedding was intimate by design - just 15 guests. Only their closest family and friends were invited, which made the entire day feel personal, present, and unhurried. The scale of the venue matched the energy perfectly, making it one of the best Alentejo wedding venues for small, meaningful celebrations.
3. Good Food and Good Wine
They hired TwoPack Kitchen for the catering, and I can honestly say it was some of the best food I’ve ever had at a wedding. I’m usually not the type to talk about desserts—but the wedding cake was unreal. If you’re looking for the best wedding cake in Portugal, speak to Migalha Doce.
If you’re planning a destination wedding in Portugal and this kind of intimate, design-forward vibe speaks to you, Casa da Volta is a venue worth looking into.
The next articles in this series will dive into other incredible wedding venues across the country—spaces that carry a similar energy. And if I’m talking about food, wine, and atmosphere, I have to mention Quinta Morgado do Quintão in the Algarve, where I photographed Lindsey & Max’s wedding, a vineyard venue with a soul of its own.
